When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers but when it put asides their differences, ego and elephantine posture then the diversity becomes the strength and power. Ironically the symbol of the Nigeria Police Force is the Eagle and the Elephant. When the elephant refuse to fight the tenacious anticipation is for the Eagles to fly and soar higher

Nevertheless, this is the situation yesterday when the former meet the latter in the interest of Internal National Security .

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission and former Inspector General of Police Dr Solomon Arase CFR led the Management of the PSC to receive the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM who visited the Commission with powerful Nigeria Police Force Management Team, the first of it’s kind in recent years at the PSC corporate headquarters Jabi Abuja

The synergy of the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force foundation was made manifest by Dr Solomon Arase CFR, According to him, “I have succeeded in stabilizing relationship between the Commission and the Nigeria Police, adding that the two Institutions are now bonding together in the interest of the nation’s internal security”.

He said further, “there may be problems and frictions but ” it is not insurmountable “. He called on the Management Team of the Police to give the Inspector General, the required support. According to him ” there is a lot to be done, our strategies have to change from time to time and our engagements must be improved”. The PSC Chairman, Dr Solomon Arase was quoted to have said.

According to Ikechukwu Ani the Commission Spokeperson, “Dr Arase advised that the legal team of the two Institutions should work as a team to avoid judgments against Police Officers in the line of duty where the Accounts of the Commission are garnished as employers of the Police”.

The Inspector General of Police in his brief remarks retaliated the gesture in adherence to the aforesaid, the PSC Chairman have inspired the Police Management Team in so many ways. ” As IGP, you impacted positively on us and even till now, we are still learning.

” Thank you for the support, advice and Collaboration since you assumed office. We will remain grateful for that. ” The new cordial relationship between the Commission and the Police has been heartwarming. We need the PSC, we even need them more. We may have issues but we will always sit and resolve them. I look forward to a more robust collaboration and engagements ” the IGP remark.

The two elephants stealth their sword , allow justice and equity to overrule conflicting interests , propose a collaborative interactions , embrace dialogue and common sense dictates in the overall interest of Internal National security for an efficient and modern policing to thrive in the country
