The Anambra Police Command has rescue four children of same family within hours of abduction from kidnappers. The incident of the abduction happened at Achalla Village, Enugwu Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State on the 15th December, 2023.
The prompt distressed call by the mother of the children to police hotline was briskly responded to and a manhunt to the suspected herdsmen (abductors) yielded results. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga has said in Akwa, the state capital.
According to the Police Spokeperson, DSP Ikenga, the family was watching television at about 2200hrs, while children were in their bedroom sleeping suddenly their light went off . The family head stepped out , while the wife tailed behind to find out what is amiss. In the process they observed three gunmen suspected to be herdsmen and fled for their lives.
In the verbatim report, DSP Ikenga said, the couple summon courage thereafter and discovered that their four children has been abducted in their sleep by the suspected herdsmen.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye reacted swiftly to the reported incidence and order the redeployment of Police personnel’s and vigilante to rescue the children from their captors.
While briefing Journalists, the State Spokeperson, DSP Ikenga revealed that Police confirm the following day within hours of the abduction being on Saturday, 16th December, 2023 that the four children aged 13, 14, 21 and 21 years respectively were rescued close to Urum, 25 kilometres away from their home in Achala village, Enugwu-Agidi.
The children has been reunited with their parent while police is in hot chase of the fleecing suspected herdsmen to neighboring communities.
CP Adeoye has warned that people should stay away from kidnapping others for money, that should they be caught they will be treated worse than armed robbers. While stating that security has been beefed up to avoid reoccurrence. the report sighted by Aiyekooto Reporters correspondent reporter and signed by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga has said.
