Death is a necessary end, it’s a spirit no one can stop when it visit. The death of General Oladipupo Diya GCON, mni, rtd signature that the fall of dry leaves from an iroko tree is a warning to the green leaves!

In 1993, the late military leader Gen Sani Abacha appointed Lt. General Diya as his Chief of General Staff and in 1994, made him vice-chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council.

Prior to his appointment as Abacha’s second-in-command, Diya was the Chief of Defence Staff and Military Governor of Ogun State from January 1984 to August 1985.

At the funeral on Saturday, President Bola Tinubu described the deceased as a selfless and diligent leader. He stressed further that Diya is a very resourceful military strategist and an epitome of integrity who was selfless in his contribution and service to his fatherland

The President stated that Diya’s contributions to nation-building remained a reference point to coming generations. The President’s message was delivered by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“Gen. Diya’s efforts towards curtailing several uprisings that threatened the corporate entity of Nigeria are legendary and these will remain indelible in the consciousness of Nigerians and sub-Sahara Africans”.

“Indeed his life of selfless and diligence in the service of the military remains a reference point for coming generations of military officers”.

It should be recalled that he fought gallantly in the task to keep Nigeria one. The highpoint is the beliefs that Nigeria indivisibility is sacrosanct he stated this in recent interview before his demise.

However, the country home of the General received dignitaries of different kind among them is the Inspector General of Police Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM among others.

The late former Chief of General Staff Gen. Oladipo Diya has been buried with full military honour in his country home Odogbolu, Ogun State. Lt General Oladipupo Diya was born in Odogbolu, Ogun State on April 3, 1944. and breathe his last on March 26, 2023. few days to his 80th birthday. Death is an inevitable end . It’s a celebration of life for the late General, the Odogbolu indigenes will miss the exit of the General.
