ARREST OF MOST WANTED VICIOUS AND NOTORIOUS HIRED KILLER AND HEAD OF KILLERS GANG IN THE HISTORY OF LAGOS STATE IN RECENT TIME, WASIU AKINWADE A.K.A OLORI ESO
The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in their fight against crime with the arrest of Wasiu Akinwade, also known as Olori Eso, a 44-year-old notorious hired killer and cultist kingpin. He was captured on June 20, 2025, in his hideout in Agbado, Ogun State, after a prolonged manhunt.
A statement released from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ben Hundeyin has said. According to him, the Lagos State Police Command adopted an Operational code -named “Silence, Speed and Surprise” which led to his arrest .
The suspects criminal activities are multifaceted with a very dangerous and vicious gangsters, CSP Hundeyin told bewildered Journalists that Wasiu Akinwade and his gang have been responsible for a wave of violent crimes, including:
- Armed Robberies: Targeting residents and communities in Mushin and its environs.
- Murders: Committing cold-blooded murders and cult-related killings.
- Kidnappings: Abducting individuals for ransom or other motives.
- Recovery of Evidence: The police recovered a cache of weapons and incriminating items from Akinwade’s residence, including,
- Firearms: 2 AK-47 rifles, 1 K2 Assault rifle, 1 Red Ryder rifle, 3 pump-action rifles, and 2 locally made single-barrel pistols.
- Ammunition: 57 live cartridges, 70 5.56 live ammunition, and 27 9mm ammunition.
- Other Items: 5 magazines, 1 dagger, 3 walkie-talkies, and 9 international passports belonging to different individuals.
Investigation and Next Steps:
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh has called for swift action on verbatim investigation on the suspect in custody. CP Olohundare has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), will lead the investigation and round up all other suspects linked to Akinwade.
However, four families have already come forward to identify Akinwade as the suspect behind the killings of their children and wards.
The notorious Wasiu Akinwade is currently in police custody under heavy security and will face the full weight of the law for his crimes. The report available to Aiyekooto Reporters has said.
