The Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State has concluded its Chairmanship screening exercise, clearing seven aspirants to contest in the party’s primary election. The screening process assessed candidates based on political experience, public service record, educational background, party loyalty and proposed developmental blueprint for Agege.
Cleared Aspirants:
- Akerele Salaudeen Ìdòwú: 57 years old, scored 91%
- Ogunji Abiodun: 42 years old, scored 86%
- Sola Solana: 54 years old, scored 86%
- Taiwo Olasunkanmi Samuel: 51 years old, scored 84%
- Tunde Azeez: 64 years old, scored 78%
- Bukola Nurudeen Sofidipe: 46 years old, scored 76%
- Oduwusi Yusuf Femi: 53 years old, scored 66%
One aspirant, Mr. Abdulganiyu Obasa, was disqualified for failing to appear before the screening panel. This development comes amid reports of crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agege, with some members alleging undemocratic power play ahead of the party’s local government primaries.
The party primaries will determine the APC’s flag bearer for the Local Government elections. Aspirants are expected to focus on issue-based engagement and maintain decorum throughout the electioneering process .
